Sakhalin Region acquires 51% in Aurora from Aeroflot for 1 rbl

MOSCOW, Mar 11 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Sakhalin Region acquired a 51% stake in Aurora airline from national flagship air carrier Aeroflot for 1 ruble, Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev told President Putin at a meeting with the government, according to information, seen by PRIME on the Kremlin’s official website on Thursday.

“Presently, the Far Eastern regional (air) company Aurora has been established… The Sakhalin Region acquired 51% of Aurora from Aeroflot for 1 ruble, according to the previous decision,” he said.

Savelyev added that the ministry is working on purchasing additional 5% of Aurora.

“We are currently working on conclusion of contracts to acquire 5% of Aurora. Such shareholder agreements are at the stage of signing, many of them have already been signed. And as a response, Aurora will receive 25% plus one share in regional air companies of the Far Eastern District,” he said.

The minister also said that Aurora will receive at least 45 Russia-made aircraft until 2024.
